The antoninianus was a coin used during the Roman Empire supposed to be valued at 2 denari. Initially silver, the antoninianus was slowly debased to bronze. Introduced in 215 AD, the antoninianus was slightly larger than the denarius and featured the emperor wearing a solar crown indicating it was a double denomination.
